The Rutherford County Board of Education has approved curriculum centered on some historical aspects of Smyrna. Included in this curriculum is the Captain Jeff Kuss USMC Memorial, the Smyrna Airport and the Sam Davis Home.

 

Captain Jeff Kuss USMC Memorial
The Captain Jeff Kuss USMC Memorial is on display in Lee Victory Recreation Park, and bus parking available inside the park. Register for a pavilion at Lee Victory Park for a picnic lunch adjacent to the Captain Jeff Kuss USMC Memorial.

 

Smyrna Airport
The Smyrna Airport tours are available on Fridays from 9 a.m. – 1o a.m. and also 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.

Sam Davis Home
A historic treasure set on 168 serene acres in the heart of Smyrna, Tennessee, this Greek Revival home is one of the top cultural and historic attractions in Middle Tennessee. On the grounds, you’ll find two historic homes, several outbuildings, slave quarters, the family cemetery, and over 100 of the Davis family’s personal effects on display, giving you the ability to take a step back in time and get a true sense of 19th century life. Open February through December, the site welcomes guests for tours at the top of every hour during business hours.
